We go beyond what is typically defined as a diverse supplier by governmental agencies and remain committed to forging relationships with minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, people with disabilities owned-businesses, veteran-owned businesses, and LGBTQ+ owned businesses, as well as small, economically disadvantaged, and historically underutilized businesses. We care about educators, students, and their communities. We want each of them to thrive. Providing the highest-quality educational materials so that all students have consistent access to rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum is at the heart of what we do. But it doesn’t stop there. We are committed to doing more…by giving back. Here are a few of the things we are doing to support students, families, and communities:

The Savvas Learning Framework
 
  • This year we launched the Savvas Scholarship Program to help students from low income families achieve their dreams of attending college. The annual program, administered through College Possible, awards four students from underrepresented communities a total of $50,000 each to use toward tuition to a four-year college. In addition to the financial support, Savvas will provide mentorship opportunities and career-planning workshops, as well as sponsor and facilitate internships inside and outside Savvas.

  • As part of our Teacher Appreciation campaign, we partnered with the non-profit EveryoneOn to honor teachers by doing something that really matters to them: helping advance digital equity for students from low-income families. Our donation helped provide free high-speed Internet service to 100 families with school-aged students who are in need of reliable WiFi in their homes for digital learning.

 
 
 

Our Advisors

Beginning in August 2020, Savvas empaneled a group of educators and advocates with subject matter expertise to serve as advisors. Their role is to offer Savvas a wide array of perspectives for consideration, particularly on issues involving culturally responsive learning practices and how they relate to teaching strategies.

Meet the Savvas Advisors:

Cati V. de los Ríos, Ph.D.

Cati is an assistant professor of literacy, reading, and bi/multilingual education at the University of California, Berkeley, and a former ESL, Spanish, and ethnic studies public high school teacher.

Gloria Ladson-Billings, Ph.D.

Gloria is Professor Emerita at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the original author on culturally responsive education and currently writes about culturally relevant pedagogy.

Ernest Morrell, Ph.D.

Ernest is an award-winning literacy education scholar and author of two core Savvas programs: myView Literacy™ and myPerspectives® English Language Arts. He is also the Coyle Professor in Literacy Education and the associate dean for the Humanities and Equity in the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame.

 
 

Theresa Santos-Volpe

Theresa is an LGBTQ+ family advocate and consultant, journalist, and children’s book author. She also has 28 years of educational publishing experience.

Kate Seltzer, Ph.D.

Kate is an assistant professor of bilingual and ESL education at Rowan University. She is also a former New York City ELA teacher.
