Connected Mathematics Project 3, or CMP3, is an inquiry-based mathematics program for Grades 6-8 that helps students actively focus on math problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication, representation, and connections. Funded in part by the National Science Foundation, and developed through Michigan State University, CMP3 provides a powerful inquiry model for learning mathematics. CMP3 can be implemented in a distance learning environment with the new resources below:
The inquiry model (Launch-Explore-Summarize) guides the Investigations and supports active mathematical learning. Students engage in questions, problem solving, reasoning, and proofs.
Strategies, videos, discussions, and dialogues help teachers get at underlying mathematical ideas. CMP3 provides ongoing support to teach inquiry skills and Common Core mathematics.
CMP3 is built on almost 20 years of insights from field test teachers. It offers the most comprehensive research base of any middle school mathematics program.
