Virtual STEM Fair: April 22, 2021
Earth Day Awareness

Awaken. Restore. ReBuild.

Awaken your students in Grades 3-8 to Climate Change and how it is affecting living things on Earth. Learn how we can Restore and Rebuild to improve and preserve our environment. Register for this one day event and Inspire students to:

  • Consider a future STEM career by participating in conversations with prominent professionals
  • Experience hands-on STEM lessons and activities
  • Find solutions to local or global problems in a STEM Challenge

HOW IT WORKS: Teachers register, then project the presentation or share the link with students. You will have access to all of the sessions for the entire day!

Take the Virtual STEM Challenge!

January 1-May 30, 2021

THE CHALLENGE: Have your students design and submit a solution to a local or global problem related to sustaining or improving a healthy environment. 

  1. Download the Resources

  2. Take pictures or short videos of your students’ STEM projects. Share them with us using #TheScienceofDoing on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! 

  3. Join our Science Facebook Group community to connect with other science educators and to stay up to date on all the latest news.

Visit our website for free STEM support resources to use before, during, or after the on-demand Virtual STEM Fair experience. Design a Bridge, an earthquake safe building, or a water purification system. The resources on our Experience STEM site provides an opportunity to look at local issues and take it further to global solutions. Use some of the ideas generated to join in the STEM Fair Challenge!

STEM Lesson/Activity: Where’s All of the Water?

In this lesson activity, we will explore how water is distributed across the Earth, look at where our freshwater supply comes from, and explore, design, and build solutions for filtering our Earth’s freshwater into drinkable water. This hands-on session will include real students designing real solutions with household items that can be recreated in any learning environment!


Monica Wadler

A former teacher of 12 years, including middle school science, 3rd and 4th grades, high ability and title one, Monica Wadler, works with teachers as a science curriculum specialist for the Savvas Learning Company.  Monica’s background in curriculum design and educational technology, studied at Ball State University, helps her to use best practice from these two fields to assist teachers in using curricular resources in ways that benefit students in both asynchronous and synchronous learning environments.  At conferences and in districts, Monica conducts many different workshops, but due to the current state of the pandemic, is supporting teachers during this unprecedented time in education to create and provide exceptional distance learning experiences.
