Key Findings
Students in schools using myPerspectives demonstrated a significantly higher ELA proficiency rate on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) than control schools using other middle school ELA programs. The percentage of students proficient in ELA is 4.0 percentage points greater in the myPerspectives schools than in the control schools. This quasi-experimental study meets ESSA Level 2 standards.
Study Description
The study examined if myPerspectives is associated with higher ELA performance on the ELA section of the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) by comparing schools using myPerspectives to closely matched control schools using other middle school ELA programs. A total of 191 myPerspectives and 191 control schools in Florida, serving students in sixth to eighth grades, were represented in the sample. The final sample was diverse, including:
