Teachers and students in Grades 3–8…participate in Savvas Learning Company’s Virtual STEM Fair! Join us for exciting live and on-demand virtual sessions. Inspire students to consider a future career in science, technology, engineering, and math by participating in conversations with prominent professionals about their STEM Careers, experiencing hands-on STEM lessons and activities, and finding solutions to local or global problems using our free STEM support resources.

Space Camp

Come blast off and launch a lifelong love of all things space and science with Janet's Planet Virtual Astronaut Camp, a camp that creates out of this world engagement with Janet and her team of educators and experts. Each day brings a new mission. You'll Zoom with an astronaut, a pilot, a scientist, a Mars rover specialist, and a mathemagical Genius! You'll have astronaut challenges and hands-on science experiences that will test your budding astronaut skills. Most of all virtual campers will have the opportunity to explore, learn and get a daily dose of science and space that will boost confidence in their STEAM abilities.

Visit our website for free STEM support resources to use before, during, or after the on-demand Virtual STEM Fair experience. Design a Bridge, an earthquake safe building, or a water purification system. The resources on our Experience STEM site provides an opportunity to look at local issues and take it further to global solutions. Use some of the ideas generated to join in the STEM Fair Challenge!

STEM Lesson/Activity: An Essential Resource

Students design a large water collection and retention tub and then propose methods for transporting the water from the tub to villagers in need of water. They apply their understanding of ratio and proportionality to determine water needs and an equitable distribution of water among the villagers. (Grades 6-8)

Kurt Whited is a national math specialist for Savvas Learning. He taught in Japan for two years to gain international experience. He also taught for 5 years as an elementary school teacher in Massachusetts. He was a math specialist for a district and helped run an after school remediation program. He has been an adjunct professor at Bridgewater State College. Most of all he is a lifelong learner.
