PARAMUS, N.J. — June 9, 2020 — Savvas Learning Company, a K-12 next-generation learning solutions provider, is proud to announce that its award-winning, high school interactive history series, Project Imagine, has won two more prestigious education technology industry awards and was named a finalist for a third award.

These recent honors further recognize how Project Imagine has reenvisioned how students learn history, making it come alive digitally in interactive and engaging ways. Since the launch of Project Imagine: U.S. History in 2018, followed the next year by the debut of Project Imagine: World History, the series has won a total of six interactive awards. The most recent accolades include:

  • Project Imagine: U.S. History — 2019 Horizon Award for Excellence in Interactive Media for Web: School and University.
  • Project Imagine: World History — Gold Stevie® Award in the 2020 American Business Awards® for Social Studies Instructional Solution.
  • Project Imagine: World History — 2020 SIIA CODiE Awards, finalist in the Best Social Studies Instructional Solution category.

“Project Imagine stands out as a true innovation in the EdTech industry, and we are excited to see it continue to be recognized as such with these additional awards,” said Bethlam Forsa, CEO of Savvas Learning Company. “Keeping students engaged is critical to them being motivated to learn, especially at a time when learning has shifted from the classroom to the home computer. Providing students captivating digital content is now more important than ever. Through its digital storytelling and interactive decision trees, Project Imagine takes students on a virtual 3D field trip through history, capturing their interest as they experience watershed events through the eyes of everyday people.”

Project Imagine is a modular, digital program that allows students to experience history through fully immersive activities and compelling primary sources that let students literally reach out and be part of history. New technology makes learning interactive and highly personalized, engaging students with 360° virtual reality explorations, role playing, maps/timelines, decision trees, and opinion polls. Project Imagine invites students to become time travelers — allowing them to virtually see, hear, and feel history as it happened, and apply it to current events shaping their world.

2019 Horizon Award for Excellence

Savvas, together with technology partner AllenComm, took home a gold Horizon Award for Project Imagine: U.S. History in the “Interactive Media for Web: School and University” category. The Horizon Awards recognize excellence in interactive media production worldwide.

Gold Stevie Award in the 2020 American Business Awards

Launched in November 2019 as the second in the series, Project Imagine: World History won top honors in the “Social Studies Instructional Solution” category, which recognizes curricula and content for students in the PreK-12 or postsecondary markets. The judging panel praised the “relevant way to teach these kinds of concepts and the awesome benefits and features for teachers … that invite students to think critically, use evidence, and make choices about outcomes and events.”

2020 SIIA CODiE Awards, Finalist

Project Imagine: World History was also a finalist in the 2020 SIIA CODiE Awards in the “Best Social Studies Instructional Solution” category. The CODiE Awards is the only peer-reviewed program to showcase business and education technology’s finest products and services. Jury comments lauded Project Imagine as “an amazing product … that offers alternative perspectives and enlivening ways for students to engage actively with historical material in an immersive environment.” The judges further said that Project Imagine “will make a profound contribution to the learning environment of a diverse range of student populations, with a variety of backgrounds and world views.”

Rosamond Kane, vice president of product management and marketing for Humanities and Science at Savvas Learning Company, said the power of Project Imagine comes from the use of primary sources to place human voices and perspectives at the center of learning to recapture the drama of history and make it personal for every student.

“Along with its flexibility and innovation, Project Imagine’s immersive activities allow students to experience history in an engaging, self-paced, and interactive way that makes learning more impactful and effective, no matter where their learning takes place,” Kane said.
