How to Animate with Adobe Animate

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the median annual wage for special effects artists and animators was $99,800 in May 2024. That being said, earnings vary significantly by industry: animators working in software publishing earned a median of $130,450; those in motion picture and video earned $97,940; and advertising and public relations roles came in at $90,520.1

BLS also reports that employment in the field is projected to grow 2% by 2034, with roughly 5,000 openings anticipated each year. Demand is expected particularly in the video game, film, and television industries, as well as from the growing use of animation in mobile apps and digital advertising. 

The range of animation careers is broader than many students and educators realize. Once a student learns how to animate, there are a variety of paths they can take: 2D/3D modeler, stop motion animator, concept artist, rigger, producer, and so on. Across these roles, employers typically look for strong artistic instincts, technical fluency with industry software, and the ability to work collaboratively on a deadline.
